How Sculptra Treatments Work

Sculptra is an FDA-approved cosmetic treatment that uses injections of a biocompatible material called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) to stimulate collagen production in the skin. Collagen is a protein that naturally occurs in the skin and provides structure, firmness, and elasticity. As we age, collagen production decreases, leading to skin laxity and wrinkles.

During a Sculptra treatment, the PLLA is injected into the deep layers of the skin using a fine needle. The injections are typically given in multiple sessions, with each session spaced several weeks apart. Sculptra Recovery and Aftercare

• On the day after the treatment, gently massage your face for five minutes five times a day for five days to prevent the formation of any lumps.
• Avoid vigorous exercise and activities that cause excessive sweating for 24 hours.
• Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, for 24 hours.
• Apply an ice pack to the treated area for 15-20 minutes at a time several times a day for the first few days to reduce swelling and bruising.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat for at least 24 hours after treatment.
• Avoid saunas and steam rooms for at least two weeks after the procedure.
• Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water to help flush out any toxins from the body.
• Avoid strenuous activities, such as heavy lifting, for at least two weeks after the procedure.
